Key Largo Unveils New Welcome Sign!

There's nothing like cresting Jewfish Creek Bridge. As the first threshold into the Keys, It welcomes You. Atop it's 65 foot summit, sits Mile Marker 108 and you catch your first real glorious glimpse of the Stunning Florida Keys.  A tantalizing teaser of what's to come.   I love to roll my windows down...breath in that fresh Keys sea air and revel in the fact...that I'm ... back.

Now, There is a new welcoming sight! 

Key Largo has unveiled its new Welcome Sign.  Right as you descend from the Bridge and into the Key, you are greeted with this enormous burst of color.  A stunning mixed reef view complete with Angelfish, French Grunts, sea fans and brain coral, backed by sea of blue.  I could not think of a nicer way to say hello to visitors to the Keys, and now, it too shall be a sight I treasure.

There IS a downside to this Welcome Sign though...and it is the back side.  A terrible sight indeed.  For the flip side of this lovely Welcome sign is the Leaving the Florida Keys Sign. 

Even though very pretty, A dreadful sight indeed. 

Even the Turtle looks sad! I know whenever I leave the Keys, I'M sad!!

But then, I return south...crest the Bridge...roll down the windows...breathe...and I'm ...back.

Morada Way Arts and Cultural District's Thursday Walkabout is this Thursday, July.21 from 6 - 9pm.
The Art District's Walkabout is a monthly arts and cultural celebration in the Heart of Islamorada. Visitors and locals can stroll the Old Highway, MM 81.5, between the Historic 1935 Hurricane Monument and the Green Turtle Inn.

This month Stuart Newman Associates will be filming the event for a National Ad campaign. Please come out and join the festivities and help us fill the street for a great colorful, fun street scene.

This is the 7th Walkabout, a Third Thursday happening that has grown popular with locals and visitors alike. The group's first Walkabout in January drew about 400 people, and by April approximately 1,000 people came.

The Conchquistador Conquers The Keys' Radio Airwaves!! Come On Out, There's Always Something To Do at Night in The Florida Keys!

What a Great week!! I have had the privilege of guesting on two local radio shows talking about Keys Real Estate in the last 7 Days!!  It has been a great opportunity to discuss our current market and the benefits for Buyers and Seller alike and share my passion for the Keys and the joy I get being a Keys Ambassador who just happens to sell real estate.

One of the common questions I get from Clients coming from outside the area is, "OK we LOVE the great Fishing and Diving...but is there ANYTHING to do at Night??"

Many people are not aware of ALL the Great activities we have after the Sun goes down.  And it ALL starts AT Sundown.  From Mallory Square in Key West to the Lor-El-Lei in Islamorada to Jimmy Johnson's Big Chill in Key Largo, and Gilbert's at Jewfish Creek, Sundown in the Keys is a revered event!

In the Upper Keys, we are fortunate to have a fantastic radio station WFKZ  103.1 that also broadcasts online at Sun103.com, so that folks worldwide can take a slice of the Keys home with them and bask in our Key-z-ness.  We locals also tune in, as it is a common thread that we share, whether it's Captains Skip Bradeen and Matt Bellinger giving their multiple daily fishing reports to the 5, week-night Live radio shows that are broadcast in the 6-7 hour in the early evenings.

Now, these live shows are a lot of fun.  Each night they take place with a unique host for each of the weeknights and at a different local Bar/Restaurant.  It's a great real slice of Keys Life as each show has its own personality, and there are usually food and drink specials and often free appetizers and giveaways...it's a great way to catch up with old friends and make new ones at the local watering hole!

Monday Night has the "In TheThe Water Show"  From the Fish House Encore with Host Mark Mills, and sponsored by my friend and collegue Joel Young
